MANCHESTER UNITED failed at Istanbul

Sow Moussa's beautiful overhead kick and a brilliant free kick from Jeremian Lens helped Fenerbahce to a nice 2-1 Europa League win over Manchester United who lost the world most costly player to injury.
The loss of the world most costly player to injury shortly before half-time compounded Man Utd's misery, before Jeremian Lens who is on a season long loan from Sunderland added more fuel to the fire for United with a brilliant 59th-minute free-kick.
Man Utd's captain Wayne Rooney reduced the deficit with a magnificent long-range goal of his own that drew him level with Ruud Van Nistelrooy on the list of Manchester United's all-time leading goal scorers in Europe on 38 goals. But this did little to mask an inadequate, unsatisfactory and incoherent performances from Manchester United and they are now one point adrift the new pool leaders Fenerbahce and Feyenoord, who in the other group game drew 1-1 at Zorya Luhansk, with two group games remaining.
